To accompany the release our Cons Lisbon Story article in issue 125, the good people at Converse have given us the opportunity to host Niki Walt’s edit of the European team’s first official trip. On top of being a good excuse to get all the ambassadors (apart from Pontus Alv) skating together, this little mission announced the addition of their new secret weapon: Polar’s David Stenström. Needless to say that with him, Javier Mendizabal, Rémy Taveira, Kevin Rodrigues, Carlos Cardeñosa, Jerome Campbell and Harry Lintell all in “tour mode”, Lisbon’s spots took quite a beating…

Following on from spaces in Barcelona and Berlin, we present CONS Space 003 Paris. Set in a disused industrial space in Montreuil, artists such as Mike Kershnar, ILK, Numskull and L’Amour Supreme provided an amazing visual backdrop as Converse skateboarding ambassadors Ben Raemers, Pontus Alv, David Stenström, Jerome Campbell, Carlos Cardenosa, Vincent Touzery, Paul Grund and Javier Mendizabal joined local Parisian skaters for an amazing session, all filmed by local skate film maker Oliver Fanchon.

To welcome Javier Mendizabal to Converse Cons he worked with his long time friend Fred Mortagne to produce Txabolism. A little film inspired by the creative partnership they’ve both shared for many years skating and filming all over the world together.
The name Txabolism comes from another old friend of Javier’s, the artist Fernando Elvira. They used travel and hang out a lot when Javi first started skating and Fernando published his first skate photos in 360 Magazine that he used to run. It was on these small budget travels, often sleeping rough where the nickname Txabolo was first attached to Javi. Txabolo is Spanish slang for a shack built from junk found in the street, and Javier and Fernando spent time living in one while homeless in Hawaii many years ago.

Na jednym z poziomów powstał Skate Lab. Jego wnętrze zostało zaprojektowane przez Roberto Cuellar’a, którego zainspirował industrialny charakter i pierwotna funkcja budynku. Podczas licznych sesji skateboardingowych mieszkańcy Berlina mogli podziwiać triki ambasadorów Converse: Mike’a Andersona, Jasona Jessee, Kenny’ego Andersona, Javiera Mendizabal, Remy’ego Taviera i Danny’ego Sommerfeld. Autorem filmu jest lokalny twórca mocno związany ze skateboardingowym środowiskiem – Mark Nickels, któremu udało uchwycić się wszystkie najciekawsze momenty z dwóch tygodni szaleństw na deskach.

The Converse Iberia skate team surprises us again with their latest video. The team went deep inside the forest in which they spent a weekend skating models created by forms and materials that mother nature offers. This could not have been posible without Dave , a mythical skater from the Barcelona skate scene that decided long time ago to move away from city to be more in touch with nature. Being surrounded by a more natural enviroment gave Dave an opportunity to achieve a great idea, the possibility to skate and get lost in the forest at the same time. Due Dave´s achivement we can see Pali Negrín, Carlos Neira, Cristian Sánchez, Dani Quintero and Octavio Barrera ripping at the forest.

Converse Skate Ambassador Pontus Alv had the idea to make a little film about cruising around Paris with a jump ramp and a couple of plates, inspired by 1989 and the Converse CONS CTAS Pro Skate sneakers.
This era of skateboarding means so much as it was when street skating really broke though; it ripped out of California and spread around the world like wild fire. It created the foundation for what skateboarding is today.
