Jim Greco’s new, lightweight, signature low top masterfully combines the best elements of a vulcanized sole with a cup sole.
SUPRA is pleased to announce the release of Jim Greco’s fifth signature shoe, the Hammer. The new low top combines the elegant simplicity of a classic casual shoe with the comfort and technology of a modern skate shoe.
“I wanted to make a super simple looking shoe,” Jim said recalling the design process. “There’s a million shoes out there that are simple, but I really wanted that fusion of vulcanized and cup sole because I like the feel of the vulc, but I like the impact absorbing features of the cup sole. I went back and forth with Josh [Brubaker], we tweaked on the drawings together, we got some cool original details, but kept a simple aesthetic, and it came out awesome.”
The Hammer is a high performance, lightweight, low top skate shoe. The upper has a short eye stay, a long vamp, and minimal branding. And while the front of the cup sole tapers to provide the board feel of a vulcanized sole, the heel of the sole is outfitted with a lightweight, molded SUPRAFOAM midsole for superior impact absorption.
The Hammer is being released in two styles:
Grey suede. Grey nubuck. Black canvas tongue. Blue SUPRAFOAM midsole. Grey outsole with blue traction pods.
Black suede. Black canvas. White, speckled, SUPRAFOAM midsole. White outsole with black traction pods.
“It was important for me to have a shoe that was skateable right out of the box,” Jim said, “and we nailed it. I’ve had so much fun skating in these. It’s the best shoe I’ve ever skated in.”

Rewind 2012 is a look back at one of the most memorable years in SUPRA history. The year began with a team photo shot in the Clockwork Orange tunnel in London—the first time the entire team had been assembled in one location. It was an inspirational moment and it set the tone for the successes that followed. We saw the release of Erik Ellington’s fifth signature shoe (the Ellington) and Stevie Williams’s first (the S1W). Four SUPRA pros teamed up with four SUPRA ams to create the Pro + Am Collection. The team had amazing tours of Australia, Europe, the East Coast, and Asia. Lizard hosted a very passionate Passion trip. The Three Amigos got busy in the Dirty South. There was tons of magazine coverage including a Jim Greco Thrasher cover and a Kevin Romar Skateboarder cover. So much happened in 2012 that it’s going to be a tough year to beat, but SUPRA looks forward to 2013 as it takes a look back at 2012.

With an even balance of seasoned pros and a fresh crop of ams chomping at the bit, the trip started in the lazy summer heat of Madrid, meandered through southern Europe, and finished two weeks later in the rain of Munich. Here’s what 11 very different skaters came back with after hitting the road in three very different countries.

The SUPRA PRO + AM Collection features four signature pro model shoes redesigned by four different ams. The third installment in the PRO + AM Collection is Lizard King’s signature Passion shoe with a Boo Johnson designed colorway.
The desert boot-inspired mid top upper is made of a unique, hairy green suede, with a green canvas flap, fluorescent orange accents, padded fluorescent orange mesh lining, and it’s built on a gum vulcanized sole with white foxing and an orange pinstripe.
“It’s my favorite shoe to skate in,” Lizard said about the new Passion. “Green’s cool, the orange is tight, and I’m super stoked to be sharing my shoe with Boo because Boo is the shit. He’s got a lot of passion.”
“It looks pretty rad,” Boo said about his colorway. “I did the shoe with Lizard because he’s the man. Ever since the first trip I went on with him, he’s been nothing but passion and positive energy. And I got a ‘Passion’ tat—I got it for the homie—so I had to do this with him. That’s pretty much why I picked him and he picked me to be partners in this project. I’m psyched.”

The tour went down earlier this year to promote the release of the three Amigo colorways designed by Neen, Keelan, and Boo. The low top Amigo is a favorite among the team because, as Neen said, „It’s a thinner shoe. It’s really good. I like the board feel and control. Definitely good for flip tricks and I’ve been loving ’em for ledge sessions.”

“What sets it apart,” Erik Ellington said about his sixth signature shoe from SUPRA, “is if you walk into a store today, pretty much every shoe looks like a slip-on. [The Ellington] has that feeling of being simple, but at the same time it’s got a lot more technical features.”
